Lusail International Circuit
Open in Google Maps β
Lusail International Circuit sits 20km north of central Doha in the planned city of Lusail, and the good news is Qatar built the infrastructure to handle it. The Doha Metro Red Line runs directly to Lusail Marina station β your fastest and cheapest option on race days. Taxis and Careem are abundant, but expect 45-60 minutes of post-race gridlock if you don't plan your exit carefully.
Metro (Red Line)
Board the Red Line from any central Doha station β Al Sadd, Msheireb, or Hamad International Airport β and ride to Lusail QNB station, the closest stop to the circuit at roughly 1.5km away. The journey from Msheireb takes approximately 25 minutes and costs QAR 3β6 (under $2 USD) with a Hayya Card or standard Doha Metro travel card. On race days, Qatar Rail runs extended service with additional train frequency until well after midnight β trains depart every 4-5 minutes post-race to clear the crowds quickly.
Official Race Shuttles
Formula 1 Qatar and the circuit operator run official fan shuttle buses from designated hubs including Doha Festival City Mall, Aspire Zone, and Al Sadd Metro station. Shuttle tickets are typically bundled with grandstand passes or sold separately for QAR 50β80 return (~$14β22 USD) β buy in advance through the official Qatar Grand Prix ticketing portal as day-of availability is not guaranteed. Shuttles run from 2 hours before each session and the final bus departs 90 minutes after the chequered flag.
Taxi / Rideshare (Careem)
Karwa taxis (the official Qatar taxi) and Careem (Uber's Middle East arm) both serve Lusail, with a one-way fare from central Doha running QAR 60β90 (~$16β25 USD) in normal traffic. Drop-off is at the designated taxi zone on Lusail Expressway β drivers cannot access the circuit perimeter road during race operations. Post-race, expect 45β75 minutes before you can successfully book a Careem pickup; the smart play is to walk 10 minutes to Lusail Marina, grab a coffee, and book your ride once the initial surge dissipates.
