Travel Guide
The Italian Grand Prix at Mugello is MotoGP's most atmospheric round, drawing over 100,000 fans to the Tuscan hills each year. The 2026 edition runs Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May at Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, 30 km northeast of Florence. This guide covers the full session schedule, transport options, must-see experiences, and practical tips to make the most of your race weekend.
Take a Trenitalia regional train from Firenze Santa Maria Novella to Borgo San Lorenzo station (50 min, ~€4.60). From Borgo San Lorenzo, official MotoGP shuttle buses run to the circuit gates on race days (15 min, ~€5 return). Trains run roughly every 30–60 minutes; arrive early as return services fill quickly after the race.
Dorna and local operators run direct shuttle buses from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station and Piazza della Libertà to the Mugello circuit on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (60–75 min depending on traffic, ~€15–20 return). Shuttles depart from 7:00 AM with the last return typically 90 minutes after the MotoGP race. Book in advance through the official MotoGP event page or local operators like Autolinee Mugello — seats sell out for Sunday.
From Florence, take the SS65 north through Barberino di Mugello to the circuit — roughly 40 minutes without traffic, but expect 90–120 minutes on race-day morning. Free parking is available in designated fields near the circuit, while closer lots cost €10–20. Leave Florence before 7:00 AM on Sunday to avoid the worst congestion. The A1 Autostrada exit at Barberino di Mugello is an alternative route from Bologna or northern Italy.
A taxi from central Florence to Mugello costs approximately €70–90 one way (metered, expect surge on race day). Uber operates in Florence but availability drops significantly for circuit drop-offs. Agree on the fare before departing, and note that return taxis from the circuit are extremely scarce — pre-book a return or arrange a pickup time with your driver. The designated drop-off point is near Gate 1 on Via del Traguardo.
Many MotoGP fans ride to Mugello — dedicated motorcycle parking is free and positioned close to the main entrances. The ride from Florence takes 35–45 minutes via the scenic SS65 through the Apennine foothills. Fuel up in Borgo San Lorenzo as there are no stations near the circuit. Be cautious on the winding approach roads, especially in morning dew or if rain is forecast.
