Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello
Open in Google Maps β
Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello sits in the Tuscan hills about 30 km north of Florence, with no direct rail or metro link to the circuit. Most fans base themselves in Florence (Firenze) and travel up via shuttle bus, rental car, or organized transport on race days. Plan for heavy traffic on the SS65 (Via Bolognese) and surrounding roads, especially on Sunday morning.
Train + Shuttle
Take a Trenitalia regional train from Firenze Santa Maria Novella to Borgo San Lorenzo station (50 min, ~β¬4.60). From Borgo San Lorenzo, official MotoGP shuttle buses run to the circuit gates on race days (15 min, ~β¬5 return). Trains run roughly every 30β60 minutes; arrive early as return services fill quickly after the race.
Official Shuttle Bus
Dorna and local operators run direct shuttle buses from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station and Piazza della LibertΓ to the Mugello circuit on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (60β75 min depending on traffic, ~β¬15β20 return). Shuttles depart from 7:00 AM with the last return typically 90 minutes after the MotoGP race. Book in advance through the official MotoGP event page or local operators like Autolinee Mugello β seats sell out for Sunday.
Rental Car / Driving
From Florence, take the SS65 north through Barberino di Mugello to the circuit β roughly 40 minutes without traffic, but expect 90β120 minutes on race-day morning. Free parking is available in designated fields near the circuit, while closer lots cost β¬10β20. Leave Florence before 7:00 AM on Sunday to avoid the worst congestion. The A1 Autostrada exit at Barberino di Mugello is an alternative route from Bologna or northern Italy.
Taxi / Rideshare
A taxi from central Florence to Mugello costs approximately β¬70β90 one way (metered, expect surge on race day). Uber operates in Florence but availability drops significantly for circuit drop-offs. Agree on the fare before departing, and note that return taxis from the circuit are extremely scarce β pre-book a return or arrange a pickup time with your driver. The designated drop-off point is near Gate 1 on Via del Traguardo.
Motorbike / Scooter
Many MotoGP fans ride to Mugello β dedicated motorcycle parking is free and positioned close to the main entrances. The ride from Florence takes 35β45 minutes via the scenic SS65 through the Apennine foothills. Fuel up in Borgo San Lorenzo as there are no stations near the circuit. Be cautious on the winding approach roads, especially in morning dew or if rain is forecast.
