Open in Google Maps →
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is located in Montmeló, 30km northeast of Barcelona city centre. The circuit is well-served by RENFE commuter rail (Rodalies) from central Barcelona, with journey times of 35–45 minutes depending on your starting station. On MotoGP race days, expect heavier crowds on public transport — arrive early and allow extra time for the walk from the station to the circuit gates.
Metro + RENFE Train (Rodalies)
Take RENFE Rodalies line R2 Nord from Barcelona Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona Sants, or Arc de Triomf stations to Montmeló station (Zone 4, ~€4.40 single or use a T-casual 6-zone card for €16.30). Trains run every 20–30 minutes on race weekends, with the journey taking approximately 35 minutes from Passeig de Gràcia. From Montmeló station, it's a signposted 25-minute walk (1.8km) to the main circuit entrance — follow the crowds and look for marshals directing foot traffic.
Official Shuttle Bus
On MotoGP race day (Sunday), the circuit typically operates shuttle buses from Montmeló station directly to the main gate, reducing the walk significantly. Additionally, some tour operators run dedicated coach services from Plaça Catalunya and other central Barcelona pick-up points — these cost €15–€25 return and guarantee a seat. Check the official MotoGP or circuit website closer to the event for confirmed shuttle schedules, as timings vary year to year.
Taxi / Rideshare
A taxi from central Barcelona (Plaça Catalunya or La Rambla) to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya costs approximately €45–€60 one way, with the journey taking 30–50 minutes depending on traffic. On race days, traffic on the AP-7 and C-33 motorways near Montmeló backs up significantly from 8am onwards — budget at least 60 minutes. Rideshare apps Uber, Cabify, and FreeNow all operate in Barcelona. Drop-off is at the designated taxi rank near the main entrance; pick-up after the race can involve waits of 30–60 minutes, so consider walking back to Montmeló station for the train instead.
Rental Car / Driving
If driving, the circuit is accessed via the AP-7 motorway (exit 14, Montmeló) or the C-33. Official parking at the circuit costs €15–€20 per day and fills up early — arrive before 8:30am on race day to secure a spot. Expect significant delays exiting the car parks after the MotoGP race, often 1–2 hours. Consider parking at Granollers Centre (10 minutes away) and taking the R2 Nord train one stop to Montmeló to avoid the worst of the post-race gridlock.
