Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is located on Γle Notre-Dame, an island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River, making public transport the only viable way to reach the track. With no public parking available on-site and heavy road restrictions, fans should prioritize the efficient Montreal Metro system and official shuttle services.
Metro / Train
Take the Yellow Line to the Jean-Drapeau station, which is just one stop from the downtown hub at Berri-UQAM. From the station, expect a 15β30 minute walk to most grandstands; purchasing a 3-day unlimited transit pass (approx. $21 CAD) in advance is highly recommended to avoid massive post-race ticket queues.
Shuttle Bus & River Shuttles
STM operates internal shuttles (Routes 167 and 777) within Parc Jean-Drapeau to ferry fans between the Metro and further points like the Casino. For a more scenic arrival, 'Navettes Maritimes' river shuttles run every 30 minutes from the Old Port or Longueuil directly to the island for around $6 CAD.
Taxi / Rideshare
Direct vehicle access to the island is strictly prohibited for non-residents during race weekend. Taxis and Ubers must use designated drop-off points at Parking P8 (near La Ronde) or Marc-Cantin Street, from which you must walk or take a shuttle; expect heavy surge pricing and significant traffic delays on the bridges.
