Travel Guide
The Qatar Grand Prix is MotoGP's spectacular night race, held under floodlights at Lusail International Circuit, 25 km north of Doha. All main sessions run in the evening (20:00β21:00 local time), making this one of the most unique weekends on the calendar. Arrive early to catch Friday Free Practice at 15:45, explore Lusail City, and experience world-class hospitality in a compact, fan-friendly circuit.
The Doha Metro Red Line runs directly to Lusail QNB station, approximately 2km from the circuit entrance. From West Bay or Msheireb stations in central Doha, the journey takes around 25 minutes and costs QAR 2 (standard) or QAR 10 (gold class). Free shuttle buses connect Lusail QNB station to the circuit gates on race days. Trains run every 6 minutes during peak times, but expect queues of 30-45 minutes after the race β arrive at the platform early or wait out the rush at the fan zone.
Official MotoGP shuttle buses operate from designated pick-up points at Msheireb Downtown Doha and Katara Cultural Village on all race days. Shuttle tickets are typically included with grandstand packages or available for QAR 20-30 return. Buses begin running 3 hours before the first session and continue for 2 hours after the final race. The journey from Msheireb takes approximately 35-40 minutes depending on traffic. Look for the clearly marked MotoGP shuttle bays at each location.
Uber and Careem both operate in Doha and are the most convenient option for groups of 3-4 splitting the fare. A taxi from West Bay to Lusail International Circuit costs QAR 40-60 (approximately USD 11-16) and takes 20-30 minutes outside race hours. On race days, expect significant congestion on Lusail Expressway from 2 hours before the MotoGP race β budget 45-60 minutes. Drop-off is at the designated rideshare zone on Al Bayt Road, a 10-minute walk from the main entrance. After the race, surge pricing can push fares to QAR 80-120; walking to Lusail Boulevard to hail a ride away from the circuit avoids the worst surcharges.
Rental cars are affordable in Qatar, starting from QAR 80/day (USD 22). Free parking is available at the circuit in designated lots off Al Bayt Street, but spaces fill quickly β arrive at least 2.5 hours before the MotoGP race to secure a spot. Exit traffic after the race is heavy, with 60-90 minute delays common on Lusail Expressway heading south toward Doha. Consider parking at Place VendΓ΄me mall in Lusail and taking the metro one stop or a short taxi to reduce post-race gridlock.
