Friday or Saturday evening after sessions wrap at 16:00 is the ideal window — the 1.5-hour workshop is the shortest of the group, leaving time for dinner in Kyoto before returning to Suzuka. A hands-on sushi class is a standout first-timer Japan moment that pairs well with the excitement of a race weekend without competing with any on-track action.
We had a really great experience with such lovely owners. Kana did an amazing job showing us how to properly prepare nigiri and maki. What we appreciated even more was that we could ask them anything about Japanese culture or Japan in general, and they were always happy to share their knowledge. You can truly feel their passion - it doesn’t feel rushed or transactional at all. We even stayed about 30 minutes longer just chatting, which created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you again for this wonderful experience. Celina & Leo
We joined the Atelier SUSHI workshop as an entire family of seven, from the grandmother to the grandkids, and everyone absolutely loved it. It was a wonderful hands on experience where we had fun learning how to make both nigiri sushi and maki rolls, and we left with a real sense of satisfaction from creating them ourselves. The ingredients were exceptional. The rice was grown by Kana’s own family, and the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. Kana was warm, dedicated, and made the experience both fun and authentic while teaching precise techniques. Her husband Karim was equally professional and welcoming, always happy to assist and chat with us. Kana’s mother was also there to help, which felt especially meaningful as we attended on December 31st. The atmosphere was fun, intimate, traditional, and truly special. A memorable experience for the whole family. Don’t miss it when you are in Kyoto!
