Travel Guide
The 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix brings the Formula 1 circus to the vibrant city of Budapest for a mid-summer classic. Known for its technical layout and sweltering July heat, the Hungaroring offers one of the most demanding challenges of the season. Fans can expect a weekend of high-speed action combined with the stunning backdrop of Hungary's capital.
Take Metro M2 (Red Line) to its terminus at Örs vezér tere, then transfer to the H8 HÉV suburban train toward Gödöllő. Alight at Kerepes for the free shuttle bus to Gate 3, or Szilasliget for a 30-minute walk; a 'Pest County 24-hour' pass is the most cost-effective ticket at roughly €2.50.
Free shuttles run frequently between Kerepes HÉV station and Gate 3, as well as from Gödöllő Railway Station to the track. For a more direct route, a paid city shuttle typically operates from Heroes' Square (Hősök tere) in central Budapest directly to Gate 8 near Turn 1.
Bolt is the official taxi partner and utilizes a dedicated VIP lane to bypass the worst traffic, with one-way fares from central Budapest typically costing between €40 and €60. While the morning trip is efficient, expect significant delays on the return journey as thousands of fans depart simultaneously.
