Travel Guide
Get ready for an unforgettable weekend as Formula 1 returns to the heart of Montreal for the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix. Set on the picturesque Île Notre-Dame, this high-speed circuit combines thrilling racing with one of the most vibrant city atmospheres on the calendar. Whether you're a die-hard fan or a first-time visitor, Montreal's unique blend of North American energy and European charm makes this a must-visit destination.
Take the Yellow Line to the Jean-Drapeau station, which is just one stop from the downtown hub at Berri-UQAM. From the station, expect a 15–30 minute walk to most grandstands; purchasing a 3-day unlimited transit pass (approx. $21 CAD) in advance is highly recommended to avoid massive post-race ticket queues.
STM operates internal shuttles (Routes 167 and 777) within Parc Jean-Drapeau to ferry fans between the Metro and further points like the Casino. For a more scenic arrival, 'Navettes Maritimes' river shuttles run every 30 minutes from the Old Port or Longueuil directly to the island for around $6 CAD.
Direct vehicle access to the island is strictly prohibited for non-residents during race weekend. Taxis and Ubers must use designated drop-off points at Parking P8 (near La Ronde) or Marc-Cantin Street, from which you must walk or take a shuttle; expect heavy surge pricing and significant traffic delays on the bridges.
